Overview

PULMOPLEX RESPIRATORY CLEANSING FORMULA

The primary function of the respiratory system is to supply the blood with oxygen which in turn delivers the oxygen to all parts of the body. The respiratory system does this through breathing.

When we breathe, we inhale air into the lungs which extract oxygen from the air and then exhale the de-oxygenated air as carbon dioxide. The oxygen from the air is taken into the blood in the millions of air sacks that make up the lungs, and thus oxygen, which acts as a fuel to provide energy to the system, is delivered to all parts of the body. Under normal conditions we breathe in about twenty times per minute to supply the oxygen our system needs.

The sequence of events that result in the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body is called respiration. There are several distinct stages in the respiratory cycle. When air is inhaled, it passes through the nasal passages where it is filtered, heated, and moistened before entering the lungs. The movement of air into and out of the lungs is termed ventilation. The second stage, the exchange of gasses between the lungs and the blood, is called external respiration. When the blood transports the oxygen to the body cells and a further exchange of gasses takes place, this is called internal respiration. The last stage of respiration occurs when the cells utilize the oxygen for their activities. This is called cellular metabolism or cellular respiration.

All the cells in the body require oxygen. Without it they would not be able to carry out their functions, and the body would soon begin to shut down and eventually die. Consequently, the continuation of life depends on the healthy functioning of the respiratory system. Steps should therefore be taken to maintain a healthy and toxin-free respiratory system
